Ground-breaking at Stroud Airport

The Stroud Industrial Authority, City Manager Bob Pearman, Executive Director of the Oklahoma Department of Aerospace and Aeronautics Grayson Airdies, and others gathered at the groundbreaking for the runway expansion project at Stroud Municipal Airport on Sept. 17. The roughly $7 million project -- funded by state and federal funds and various grants, according to Airdies -- aims to expand the runway from 3,000 feet to 4,000 feet by 75 feet, as well as install new runway lighting. Airdies said he hopes in the future to see more private hangars built at the airport, as well as potentially a hangar by nearby Mint Turbines, so that they could expand their business.
