A small plane crashed at the Stroud Municipal Airport on Saturday, with minor injuries though the aircraft was totaled, according to first responders.
Stroud Fire Chief Chris Wilson said they received a call a little before noon. The pilot of a Rockwell single-engine prop plane indicated he was having some trouble about three miles out from the airport and thought he could make it. He came short of the runway by about 200 feet and ended up landing at the end of the runway. The pilot was the only occupant in the plane.
“We helped him get out of the plane and he was transported to Stroud hospital with minor injuries,” Wilson said. “But plane, plane was a total loss.”
The chief added that he wasn’t sure where the plane was headed or where it was coming from, but the FAA and Oklahoma Highway Patrol were working the investigation
