Chandler senior Emmerson Snovel was among 141 students honored with the Arts Excellence Award on April 23.

Snovel won the award in the Drama/ Theatre category and received it at a ceremony on Tuesday.

“Emmerson is an exceptional student whose dedication to the arts is truly inspiring. Her talent and passion for the craft shine brightly both on and off stage,” said Inda Jo Conway, theatre teacher at Chandler High School.

“This recognition from the State of Oklahoma is a testament to Emmerson’s hard work, creativity, and outstanding contributions to our school’s theatre program.

“I am incredibly proud to have had the privilege of teaching and mentoring such a talented individual.”

According to a press release, the Oklahoma Alliance for Arts Education, Oklahoma State Department of Education, Oklahoma Arts Council, and the Masonic Fraternity of Oklahoma host the honors every spring at the Masonic Temple in Guthrie.

“These prestigious awards celebrate the remarkable achievements of students, educators and school leaders who are deeply committed to the arts,” said Rhonda Taylor, chair of the Oklahoma Alliance for Arts Education. “We applaud the resilience, creativity and vision of our awardees.”

High school juniors and seniors receive awards in dance, drama/ theatre, instrumental music, piano, visual arts and vocal music. They also recognized teachers and administrators.
