The Stroud School Board voted to approve the purchase of playground equipment for the playgrounds at Parkview Elementary School at their regular meeting on Monday, March 10.
The equipment will cost $222,315 and will be purchased from Children’s Specialty. They also approved the purchase of a custom trailer for the high school band to transport equipment to performances. The trailer will cost about $45,474 and is to be purchased from Stadium Creations.
The school board made a slew of personnel decisions. They went into executive session to discuss the superintendent’s recommendations, then returned to public meeting for final action and votes. They voted to renew contracts with Jerry Martin as the high school principal, Josh Calavan as middle school principal, and James Wells as Parkview Elementary principal.
They then accepted the resignations for Jill Blanski as an art teacher, Kayla Reyes as an elementary special education teacher and Jerry Martin as the high school principal. The school board also voted to hire Jim Campbell as the athletic director. They took no action on approving the employment of support personnel.
The school board decided to table and have a special meeting before March 31 to approve the June 30, 2024 audit of all funds by Jay Jenkins of Jenkins & Kemper, CPAs.
The Board approved the overnight stay of the Stroud High School Pom Camp Team for NDA Camp from May 27 to 29 at the University of Oklahoma in Norman. They didn’t approve an overnight stay for FCCLA State Convention in Tulsa on April 9.
Other approvals include the 2025-26 school calendar, Board Policy FE-Student Transfers and allowing Stroud First Baptist Church the use of Stroud Public School buses to transport students to Youth Camp and Children’s Camp on June 16 to 21 and July 11 through 14.
