A Davenport resident has been named to the 38th class of Leadership Oklahoma, an organization dedicated to equipping Oklahomanswithskillsand resources to make positive changes in the state, according to a press release from the organization.
DerekWhite, who works with the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, joins 47 other members of the class from all over the state, working in a variety of companies and positions. He and the others were selected from a pool of applicants that represented diverse backgrounds and regions, the press release said.
President and CEO of Leadership Oklahoma Jodi Lewis said the organization is thrilled to welcome those chosen for Class 38, adding that they bring a broad range of experience and interests, which will contribute to a deeper understanding of critical issues impacting the state.
“Leadership Oklahoma is dedicated to recruiting, educating and connecting caring and committed Oklahomans and providing them with the information and network to help shape Oklahoma’s future. The members of Class 38 epitomize dedication to excellence and community betterment,” she said.
Over the next 10 months, the group will hold monthly meetings and visit nine different communities throughout Oklahoma. At the gatherings, Class 38 will hold discussions on the “complex social, environmental, and economic challenges that impact our state.” The goal is to foster thoughtful questions, strict analysis and creative solutions to help all Oklahomans, the press release said.
