Chandler board approves appropriations

Chandler Board of Education members this week voted to approve the application for temporary appropriations for Fiscal Year 2022-2023.

School Supt. Melody Toma said the General Fund amount totals $8,013,000, building fund is $758,400 and Child Nutrition is $408,800.

Following an executive session, the board returned to open meeting and hired three elementary school teachers including Leah Reedy, Jessica Murray and Erin Evans. Toma explained all three of them will teach at Park Road Elementary.

“We have one more teacher to hire and that should be it,” she added.

The board hired support staff including: Kayla Ainsworth, James Allen, Violet Boggs, Candice Brewer, Tonya Clagg, Tracee Cobb, Kristy Cunningham, James Farrow, Teresa Fick, Amber Fowler, Taryn Gibson, Sarah Gross, Brenda Hitchcock, Walter Hughey, Jill Lambert, Nicole Lawrence, Lee Roy Milburn, Jessica Miller, Mary Mitchell, Whitney Messer, Lori Molloy, Ashton Haley Mooy, Jonathan Ostrwoski.

Donna Price, Amanda Raper, Kelly Robinson, Amy Sanchez, Karis Schvetto, Brittani Smith, Shannon Smith, Shelby Smith, Niki Steeley, Angie Tait, Natalie Ussrey and Chelsea Wilhite.

Board members also approved open transfers to the Chandler School District.

Resignations were accepted from Autumn Pearce, Park Road teacher; Kelsey Mason, Park Road teacher; Chance Pearce, Secondary teacher and coach; Nicholas Julkowski, Secondary teacher and coach.

They authorized Scott Baade to act as the Chandler School District Director of Federal programs to sign and file all federal claims beginning July 1, 2022. Baade takes over as school superintendent on that date for Toma who is retiring effective June 30.

They approved the second year of a three-year lease agreement between Ross Transportation and Chandler Public Schools for the 2022-2023 school year.

They approved an agreement with Rosenstein, Fist and Ringold for legal services including but not limited to legal advice, consultation and representation as requested.

Board members approved an out of state trip for Archery to participate in the NASP Open and World Championship Tournament in Louisville, Ky. The days of travel will be June 23-26 this year.

In other business, the board:

Approved the East Central Oklahoma On-Line Consortium between Gordon Cooper Technology Center and Chandler Public Schools for the 2022- 2023 school year.

Approved an agreement with the Cooperative Council for Oklahoma School Administration (CCOSA) to participate in CCOSA’s financial assistance program for FY23.

Agreed to a contract with Oklahoma Drug and Alcohol Testing, LLC for testing of bus drivers for the 2022-2023 school year.

Renewed the contract with Opaa! Food Management of Oklahoma for food management ser vices for the 2022-2023 school year.

Approved a bid proposal from Zenith for workman’s compensation insurance for Chandler Schools for the 2022- 2023 school year.

Approved the Special services agreement with Crossroads Youth and Family Services Co-op Head Start for the 2022- 2023 school year.

Approved the request to add “Class of 2024” to the list of sub-accounts and remove “Class of 2019” in the activity fund for FY 2022-2023.

Renewed with Oklahoma Public School Resource Center (OPSRC) for the 2022-2023 school year.
