Elizabeth “Betty” (Russell) Lubojacky

On June 3, 2024, angels came and took our Betty, Mom, and Nana away to Heaven. She is sorely missed.

Betty and her twin sister, Maxine, were born November 5, 1941, to Howard Henderson Russell and Ethyl Viola (Baer) Russell. Following a truly successful blind date, Betty married Walter Vernon Lubojacky onApril 10, 1964, at Withamsville, Ohio. She graduated as a registered nurse in 1962 and was employed as an RN from 1962 to 1966 and from 1974 to 1993 when she retired to be a full-time grandmother. She loved caring for her family, flower and vegetable gardening, and freezing/canning fruit & vegetables. She was a wonderful cook and had several signature recipes. Among them: holiday cranberry-banana-cream cheese salad, chicken & dumplings, and tomato preserves.

Due to job transfers, he and Walt, her husband of 60 wonderful years, lived in Columbus, Ohio, Phoenix, Arizona, and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, before settling in Piedmont, Oklahoma, where they finished raising their three daughters. In their retirement she and Walt settled in Stroud, Oklahoma.

Her ashes will be buried under a rose bush in a private memorial service next to her faithful cat, Itty Bitty.

She was preceded in death by her father Howard Henderson Russell, mother Ethyl Viola (Baer) Russell, sister Lois Esther Russell and sister, Maxine Jane (Russell) McCormick.

She is survived by her devoted husband Walt, her oldest daughter, Susan (Guy) Murphy of Meeker Oklahoma, and their children Jeffrey (Leila) Murphy of Prague, Oklahoma, and Moriah “Nikki” (Sheldon) Shoonover of Meeker, Oklahoma; middle daughter Lisa (Rob) Bailey of Paden, Oklahoma and their children Abby (fiancee to Austin Hamilton) of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Heath and Coleman of Paden, Oklahoma; youngest daughter Kathy (Kevin) Weidmayer of Reading, Michigan, and their children Marie of Bangor, Maine, Ann of Breadenton, Florida and Joseph of Ann Arbor, Michigan; and her sister Linda (Guy) Marguette of Bethel, Ohio.
