Milly Jean “Jeannie” (Graham) Tener was born Sept. 24, 1935, to Mildred Crayton Hogan Graham and Harold Cowden Graham, in Newport, Ark.
Jeannie passed away on July 4, 2022, in Norman, Okla. at the age of 86.
Her parents; an infant brother, Sonny; a sister, Haroldene “Liz” Jones Muncin; and her husband of 25 years Jesse Tener preceded her in death.
Jeannie married her high school sweetheart, John Sill, in Nov. 1952. They were married for 23 years and had two children, Terri Lynn Sill, and John Wayne Sill, Jr.
Jeannie was a housewife for many years, but also worked at the McClain County Health Dept. and at the US Postal Service as Postmaster.
In 1975 she married Jesse Tener.
The couple moved to Washington, DC for a few years and then to Oregon where Jeannie worked as an event planner for 4 years.
After retirement they remained in Oregon.
They loved nature and the outdoors, and spent much of their time hunting, fishing, gardening, entertaining grandchildren and traveling.
Jeannie was kind, full of energy, and was up for anything. Jeannie has always had a caretaker’s heart, even in her last days; she was worrying about the welfare of others. She had a big personality and a sharp wit that kept everyone laughing when she was around. There is a big void in the lives of all those who knew and loved her.
Jeannie is survived by her daughter, Terri Pierce and her partner Charles Gaines; son, John Sill Jr and his wife Carolyn; two grandsons, Lance Pierce, and Logan Pierce; three granddaughters, Amanda Lewis and her husband Bear, Rachel Jackson and her husband Sean and Caitlen Sill; four great-grandchildren, Rhett Lewis, Fynlee Lewis, Charlie Lewis, and Grey Jackson; and a multitude of friends who have come to love her over the years.
A special thanks to Stephanie Cottrell and all the staff at Arbor House Reminisce in Norman. We are so blessed to have had you watching over her these past few years. She was happy and loved. We couldn’t ask for more.
