Town Talk would like to thank everyone who donated to our “new scarecrow” campaign. We have used our scarecrows on Main Street for several years. They have been resewn, safety pinned, stapled and much more. We have certainly gotten our money’s worth out of them, but it is now time to replace them. The scarecrows are used for Fall decorations and then converted into elves for Christmas decorations so they get a workout. Community members donating are Charles Palmer, Marilyn Wheeler, Amy Clanton, Jacklyn King, Julie Bivin, Aleta Smalley, Jessica Brackeen, Joy Smith, Wynn Davis, Brandon Morgan, Kayla Reyes, Rhonda Rozell, Jackie Paige, Kyle Anderson, Shelly Garrett, Jeff Stiner, Debbie Garrett, Sandy Jones, Patsy Vaughn and myself. We will buy scarecrows now, while we can get a good price, but we will not use them until next year so they will be new for the Route 66 Centennial. Thanks again for your support. I will let you know how many we purchase next week.

If you need to know what time it is, be sure and check out our Centennial Clock on Main Street. Once again, it is up and running. Outside decorative clocks are hard to keep in working order, but the City of Stroud does its best to make sure ours is keeping correct time. The current mechanics inside the clock were bought with donations from our community and many out-of-town alums, a few years ago. The clock was purchased during Stroud’s Centennial celebration.
Stroud School’s Fall Break is this week, Wednesday October 15th through Sunday October 19th so school will not be in session. The elementary school will be holding parent-teacher conferences on Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning so make every effort to attend.
The Tigers traveled a long way to compete against the Alva Goldbugs, but the trip was worth it as the Tigers brought home another win with a final score of 39-14. They will take on the Newkirk Tigers this Thursday night at Jack Poskey Field with kick-off scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Come out and support the Stroud Tigers and see our newly painted field.
