Meeker Town Hall updates

All the Town employees appreciate the cooperation of everybody using the new Bill Pay Box at the front of Meeker City Hall.

We have added envelopes below the pay slot for your convenience. Please remember to call for any permits and for appointments to see the City Clerk/Court Clerk, PWA Clerk or the Town Administrator. We all are here 8 hours a day. City Hall is closed from noon to one.

The Meeker Quapaw 15 Project which I call the Meeker Lake/Dam Project, finally is kicked off. NRCS, Valerie Glasgow, had two surveyors on the Dam Tuesday. Next Monday NRCS Inspectors will be at the Dam looking at the 24” water gate valve. Good to see some action finally taking place out there.

Mowing Season has started and the guys loved mowing with the new Bobcat mower. Our part on the eastside of the cemetery was mowed. The rest of the cemetery is contracted out to be mowed. All other areas have been mowed, or are to be mowed. The Town employees will be out this week spraying weed killer at the locations we spray every year. It sure does help with less weedeating.

A big reminder, “Please do not flush paper towels, baby wipes, or any wipes down the toilet.” They do stop up our sewer lines. Please throw them in the trash. Central Disposal will always be classified “essential”, so continue to place your polycart on the street late Tuesday evening or early Wednesday morning.

The new Fire Station will be having OG & E hook up the electricity this week. The PWA guys will also be installing the sewer line this week. The facility is sure looking great and will be a great asset to the Town. The $150,000 grant sure came in handy.

Thanks again to all of Meeker Citizens who have stepped up with money, time, and delivery efforts, for some of our other residents. It’s times like these where we always pull together to help one another. So please continue to support all our businesses. Wash your hands, keep your social distance and if you go out wear a mask for your protection. It is not, “We HAVE to stay at home,” it’s “We GET to stay at home”.
