Chandler-Meeker

Meeker and Chandler got in their final scrimmage of the pre-season Thursday. They ran series with first and second squads, then turned on the clock for a 12-minute quarter under game conditions. As it turned out, each team had two possessions. The Lions scored on their first possession to go up, 6-0, then forced the Bulldogs to punt. Meeker stopped the Lions on the next possession, recovering a fumble deep in their own territory. The Dogs drove the length of the field, with quarterback Manny Saavedra, subbing for the injured Treyvon Compton, floating a touchdown pass to Logan Devereaux in the corner of the end zone for the tying touchdown.

The Lions and Bulldogs open their regular seasons Friday night, with Chandler hosting ancient rival Stroud at 7 p.m. The Lions then host Lone Grove the following week.

Meeker opens on the road at Pawhuska Friday, then comes home to host the Harrah JV the following week.
