Chandler junior Kaden Jones took the silver medal in the long jump, Hannah VanDenBrand took second in the 400 meters and the relay quartet of Bailey Bigbey, Jessie Brannon, VanDenBrand and Leah Brannon picked up another silver in a thrilling 4x400 relay at the Class 3A state championship track meet Friday in Catoosa.
Jones jumped an even six feet and finished second to Tarrin Snow of Atoka, who cleared 6-2, to earn his spot on the awards podium.
VanDenBrand ran a 1:00.21 in the 400, finishing second to Kennedy Hight of Perry. VanDenBrand also won a silver medal in the 100 and finished fourth in the 200.
In the 4x400,Chandler came into the state meet with the fastest qualifying time, a clocking of 4:11.89. The Lady Lions beat that by almost a second and a half, but Beggs turned in a time of 4:09.95 and won by less than a half a second.
