Tournament week

42, in the finals of the Agra tournament

Staff writer Blestin Miller hit a twisting jumper from the lane with one second left, lifting Prague to a 64-63 win over McLoud in the finals of the Bethel tournament Friday.

Miller led Prague with 23 points and found himself with the ball in his hands as time was running out.

“It was one of the options for our plays in transition,” Prague coach Nate Greer said of the winning bucket. “Usually it’s for a jumper, but he was able to make it into the paint.” The game was a battle of unbeatens between Class 3A Prague and Class 4A McLoud, which didn’t have to wait long for a chance at revenge. The Redskins went to Prague Tuesday night to meet the Red Devils in a 66 Conference game.

The Red Devils were 6-0 going into the game and owned wins over three Class 4A teams. Greer said the team is still working on execution after getting members of the football team onto the court.

“Our football guys don’t even know the plays yet, we’re still trying to rep stuff,” he said.

“With a football school that goes a couple of rounds, it’s usually after Christmas before you come around.

“We play extremely hard, which is one of the hardest things to get kids to do these days.

“It’s not because of me. It’s because our kids love to play and love competing. I think we should be a top 10 team and we should be able to make a run.” Andrew Hunter and Trevor McGinnis had 13 points each to go along with Miller’s 23.

Luke Norwood had 19 to pace McLoud.

The top-ranked Dale boys and girls won the championships at the Boom-arang Classic, hosted by Dale.

The unbeaten Dale boys had little trouble cruising to the title. Their closest game was an 18-point victory over previously unbeaten Oklahoma Christian School in the finals.

The girls, who are now 8-1, beat Class 4A Elgin in the finals, 47-26.

Wellston’s boys beat Woodland, 49-
