When reflecting on her eighth-grade school year, Mattie Hurley, a freshman FFA member at Meeker High School, is reminded of how much growth has taken place and how many obstacles she has overcome. Living with highfunctioning autism and other medical needs meant being homeschooled until eighth grade.

A group of 4-H members from across Lincoln County carefully select their favorite gingerbread house. The group gathered at the new OSU Extension Office building on the Lincoln County fairgrounds to put together thank you gifts for businesses that sponsor 4-H on Dec. 22. They also held a gingerbread house contest. There were kids from just about every 4-H club in the county at the event. Photo/Emily Kalka

Seminole State releases honor roll

Seminole State College released its fall 2025 honor roll lists on Dec. 18, with students from Lincoln and Pottawatomie counties making the lists.To make the President’s Honor Roll, students must maintain a 4.0 grade point average (GPA) while taking at least 12 credit hours of coursework.

Santa and reindeer in Stroud

Santa and his reindeer will be making a stop in Stroud next week. The Stroud Chamber of Commerce is hosting an event on Dec. 17 at the Stroud Route 66 Pavilion on Main Street.Santa will be there with some of his reindeer for photos. There will also be food trucks, venders, hayrides and more.

Chandler High School’s chapter of Family, Career and Community Leaders Leaders of America donated supplies to Citizens Caring for Children. CCC is a nonprofit organization that help provide clothing essentials for children in foster care.
