Ag Recycling event planned

The OSU Extension will sponsor a Pesticide Container Recycling Event 8 a.m.-2 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 7, in two locations. Acceptable items can be brought to the Lincoln County Agri-Civic Center in Chandler or Cantrell Ag at 106240 S. 3560 Road in Prague. Acceptable items include 1, 2.

CHANDLER CALENDAR

Following is a list of upcoming events in and around the Chandler community. The Chandler Lions Club meets at 12 p.m., each Thursday at First Christian Church, 614 Manvel. The Chandler Rotary Club meets 12 p.m., each Friday at Rt. 66 Bowl. On the schedule for Sat., August Sat., 28 - 9 a.m.

CHS students attend Arts Institute

Two students from Chandler were among those from across the state attending the Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute held last month at the University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma in Chickasha.

Prague Library’s top readers

Librarians at Haynie Public Library in Prague announced the winners in their Summer Reading Program. The readers turned in a total of 122,057 pages read. All participants received prizes. Forest Bland was the grand prizewinner in the Elementary Reader age group. He received a 40” Saucer Tree Swing.

Chandler’s opera connection

Chandler had a remarkable influence on the development of an opera camp for young talents that has grown into a training program for aspiring professional singers. This summer, Opera in the Ozarks celebrated its 70th anniversary. The celebration was delayed a year because of COVID-19.
