Democrat meeting

Democrats in the area are invited to the next meeting of the Lincoln County Democratic Party on Thursday, Feb. 8. It will take place in Chandler at the Destinations restaurant, according to the group. Dinner and conversation will kick off at 6 p.m., with the meeting to follow at 7 p.m.

New pastor installed at Christian Church

The First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ in Chandler, announced the installation of its new pastor on Jan. 21. Lori Brisco Smithey is the new leader of the church, which has been shepherded by numerous pastors since it was established in late 1891, according to a release.

Rain-soaked roads

Last week’s ice storm across Central Oklahoma heavily damaged Lincoln County area roads and it will take some time to fix them. It impacted travel for those who use the roads daily, among them school buses and businesses.

Three sentences for Wellston man

A Wellston man has been handed three state prison sentences after he pleaded guilty to three felony charges. Formal felony charges of child neglect and domestic assault and battery by strangulation were filed in Lincoln County District Court July 24, 2023 against Robert Nathaniel Cohran, 34.

Prison terms in break-in cases

A woman charged recently with two felonies has pleaded guilty to both and has been handed two state prison terms. Pre-preliminary hearings have been set for a man who was also charged at the same time with her, but he faces a total of three felonies and a misdemeanor.
