Wellston schools approves bids

New renovations will be starting at Wellston Public Schools. During a special school board meeting, the Wellston school board approved a variety of bids for renovations throughout the school system. - The bid from Jackson Electric was accepted for the baseball field lights at a price of $78,000.

Sharp hearing

I like to play a little music now and then, but was not blessed with the greatest of ears. Given enough time, I can get a guitar or mandolin or bass in the vicinity of correct tuning, but I always figure it is off enough to be grating for someone who has good musical hearing.

Updates from Meeker Town Hall

I hate to report about COVID-19 again but our numbers for our area are going up. Three Meeker residents reported positive for the Corona Virus and two of the three have recovered. I am still waiting on the 3 rd person’s report.

Importance of police funding

Amid all the recent protests and demonstrations over the last several weeks have come calls for defunding police departments across the state and around the nation. Among my first thoughts were these people can’t be really serious. They were, are and will continue to be it appears.

New guidelines at the Prague Library

Haynie Public Library, 1619 W. Main Street in Prague, has reopened and offers the following guidelines to patrons for using the library. To risk the spreading of coronavirus, masks are required and visitors must use hand sanitizer provided at entrances and exits.

The solution to tough splinters

Three weeks ago I went camping with a friend at Kaw Lake. We had new kayaks and wanted to test them out on the water. We walked up and down the shoreline scavenging the area looking for a cleared way to get to the water without having to walk through the briers and brush.

Thank you to everyone who came out and supported Town Talk’s second Farmer’s Market this past Saturday. Everyone had a great time and I saw lots of people leaving with their arms loaded. Both Vivian Henshaw and Chelsea Weeks told me laughingly, “I had a great time but spent too much money.
