Our first winter storm for the new year brought us lots of the white stuff and from what I could see and have heard there were not a lot of problems associated with this one.That’s always good news. We had a reported 5½ inches of snow here in this area.

A topic I’ve addressed before, though’s it’s been a long while since I’ve talked about it, is how much impatient drivers upset me. I previously stated that those who irritate me the most are the motorists who ignore traffic laws while they are showing their ignorance and impatience.

A couple of legislators, one a House member, the other a Senator, have filed bills to gradually phase out and eliminate the state personal and corporate income tax over a decade with the goal of eliminating the tax entirely by 2035.State Rep.

Wreaths Across Stroud is taking place this year on Sunday, December 15th at 1:30 p.m. at Stroud Cemetery. There will be a short program in remembrance of our veterans and then we will lay wreaths on each veteran’s grave. We ask all community members to come out and help us honor these men and women.

This Christmas coming up in a few days may be the greatest ever. It was 43 years ago at this time that my wife Pat and I were anxiously arrival of our child.Meghan Kathleen didn’t actually arrive until about six weeks after Christmas in early February. We were grateful when she was born.

I begin to wax nostalgic in early December and find myself jonesing for some orange-slice candy and English walnuts.Back when the earth was young - in the late ‘50s and very early ‘60s - Fitzhugh would have a community Christmas tree and program and we kids looked forward to it for weeks.

Last week I wrote that my wife Pat and I were looking forward and really excited about Thanksgiving because our family was gathering and that included our daughter Meghan, her husband Terry and their son Liam, (our grandson).Well, Thanksgiving Day was as delightful as we had hoped.
