Now that the dust has settled and it’s been more than three weeks since State Question 820 was overwhelmingly rejected by Oklahomans, I thought I’d weigh in a little bit on its demise. First, I thought the proposition to legalize recreational marijuana in the Sooner state would probably pass.

Chop shop suspect to stand trial

One defendant in an alleged chop shop operation has been ordered to stand trial, an arraignment has been set for another and the pre-preliminary hearing has been continued for a third.

County transactions need to be public

Openness should be supreme when it comes to meetings and records of public bodies. We see and hear of boards, councils, other public bodies that either ignore or attempt to skirt the Open Meetings and Records Act. Non-profits are subject to the law when they receive any kind of public funding.

About eight years ago I started trying to take a walk each day to help me get more exercise. I usually tried to walk around a mile, some days a little less, some a little more. With my cell phone on my hip, it’s easy to keep track of the steps I’m taking and how far I go.

Arraignment on two felonies

A driver facing two felonies for running a pair of roadblocks has waived his preliminary hearing and his arraignment has been scheduled. Joshua Wade Pleasant, 34, Shawnee, was formally charged in Lincoln County District Court on Aug. 1, 2022 with two felony counts of running a roadblock.

We live in a technological world. I get that. It seems technological advances are moving so quickly it’s mind boggling to people like me. Someone asked me several years ago what we did before we had cell phones. He was a person in his 60s and he is a person I’d consider tech savvy.
