Kingdom of Heaven

The Lord said over 3,000 years ago that man burns their children with idolatry. We cannot put anything before Him. I think we really need to stop and think about this. We are supposed to seek the kingdom of God and His righteousness. Do we worship things made with the hands, or do we put God first.

It has been an exciting but stressful few days at the Smalley/Reed household. Last Thursday around 4:00 p.m. Larry told me he was having trouble breathing. This continued until about 9:00 p.m. He wasn’t getting any relief so we went to a small emergency room in Tulsa.

We kept the grandson part of last weekend, including overnight on Saturday and took him home to Norman late Sunday afternoon. Little Liam is 3½ and he’s busy from the time he gets here until we take him back to his parents unless he’s sleeping. He’s so much fun, though.

The Pottawatomie County Junior Livestock Show finished up last Friday evening with the annual premium auction and presentation of awards and scholarships. A new wrinkle, if you will, was having the Gordon Richards, Sr. Achievement Awards presented on the same night.

Letter to the editor

Growing up in a small town in Oklahoma, I was taught basic manners, like open a door for ladies and the elderly, to always return something borrowed in better condition than it was when you got it.

Sunday afternoon I was at the dining room table, working on this week’s edition of the newspaper. J.R. the camerabreaking cat jumped on the window sill, crouched and started staring at something outside between the air conditioner and the dining room wall. J.R.
