Wellston, Chandler split

The regular season began its wind-down to the playoffs last week with some in-county matchups between Chandler, Wellston and Stroud. Wellston’s boys held off a comeback by the host Lions on a cold Tuesday night and won 60-2, while the 17th-ranked Chandler girls won, 54-20.

Focus on: Chandler vs. Meeker

Chandler’s Lions rolled down Highway 18 last week and picked up a pair of wins from 66 Conference rival Meeker. For the boys, it was the fourth win in five games and marked a turn-around for the Lions, who started off the season 2-10.

Focus on: Prague vs. Stroud

Prague hosted Stroud last week and it into an evening of celebration for the hometown, with the Red Devils and Lady Devils posting victories. The Prague boys walked away with a 58-29 win and the Lady Devils won 45-29 win.

The Sac and Fox Nation Business Committee recently announced the purchase of Shawnee Trophy. The Sac and Fox Nation’s newly formed company, Shawnee Trophy, a Sac and Fox Nation Limited Liability Company, purchased the business from longtime owners Randy and Ruthi Loftis.

Prague wins 66 tournament

Prague’s girls downed Chandler 40-33 in the finals of the 66 Conference tournament in McLoud Saturday night, recording their third win over the Lady Lions this year. The win lifted Prague, No. 11 in Class 2A, to 15-2 for the year. The Lady Lions, now No. 18, sit at 12-6 for the season.
