20 -year sentence in manslaughter

A Texas man who was scheduled to go on trial during the current jury term has instead pleaded guilty and has been sentenced to prison.A formal charge of first degree manslaughter was filed March 22, 2024 in Lincoln County District Court againstTravis Smith, 46, of Dallas, Texas.

Charlotte Ann Banks, age 82, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away on February 9, 2025. She was born on September 8, 1942, in Oklahoma City to the late Mr. and Mrs. Elmore. Charlotte was a vibrant and feisty woman, known for her strong spirit and sense of humor.

The girls’ wrestling teams from McLoud and Chandler High Schools qualified for State, which is to take place Feb. 27 to March 1 at The Big House in Oklahoma City.McLoud was named the 5A West Regional Champions, with eight of nine girls qualifying.Kendra Perrien was out with an injury.

The Chandler Area Chamber of Commerce held its Annual Banquet on Feb. 11 at the Route 66 Interpretative Center. On the left is Hallie Murray, the Chamber of Commerce scholarship winner for this year. Murray plans to attend Baylor University and major in astrophysics.

No action on EMS district

Lincoln County commissioners this week held off from discussing or taking any possible action on four agenda items related to the Emergency Medical Service 522 District.Commissioners did vote to keep the two present employees at the county fairgrounds.
