Rotarians of the Month announced

The Chandler Rotary Club has selected Sadie Sherman and Peyton Williams as the February Student Rotarians. Sadie Sherman is the daughter of Bobby and Angie Sherman and has 3 older brothers.

Meeker system to launch soon

A communication system that allows the Town of Meeker to communicate with citizens regarding a number things should be up and running within about 30 days. Town Administrator Jeff Wilbourn said recently that people should be able to sign up within about a week to participate.

Regional basketball

Six local teams moved into the area basketball tournaments, which begin Thursday. In Class 4A, North Rock Creek’s boys won the regional that they hosted, beating Anadarko, 42-39, in a game that went down the final second. Now 21-4 and ranked No.

Chandler man to treatment

A Chandler man facing a felony and two misdemeanors after he allegedly took a van from an area nursing home will go through an in-patient treatment program. Shannon Wayne Nicholas, 52, was formally charged in Lincoln County District Court on Oct.

Letters to the editor

Last January, Chandler played basketball against Okemah. One of Okemah’s players damaged Jake Smithey’s shoe. Jake had to be pulled out of the game. At halftime, Coach Blankenship asked if anyone in the gym had a size 11 shoe they would let Jake wear. Matt Legere was the only one.
