Applications open for scholarships

The Oklahoma Hall of Fame has opened up applications for its annual Oklahoma Scholarship Competition. According to a press release from the organization, more than $770,000 in cash scholarships and tuition grants are available.

WLTs go to 16-0

Wellston’s Lady Tigers kept their unbeaten record intact and captured their third straight Davenport Hardwood Classic championship with a 27-21 win over Meeker Saturday night.The WLTs are 16-0 and ranked No. 10 in Class A, while Meeker goes to 5-7.

A Stroud man facing 408 counts of felony animal cruelty will return to court next week for another felony disposition docket.Jerry Hine appeared before District Judge Sarah Bridge on Jan. 13 on the felony disposition docket with his attorney, Kimberly Miller, who requested that they return on Jan.

Community program teaches hope

In a room tucked away on the second floor of the Hope Builders Society office on Seventh Street, a group of people gathered, some helping themselves to fruit and snack trays along the side of the room, others seated and chatting.

Formal charges filed in Meeker shooting

Formal felony charges have been filed against a landlord in Meeker who was shot and injured on New Year’s Eve morning after he pointed a handgun at a Lincoln County deputy who had responded to a call that morning.
