Alma Lee Gooch (White) of Colorado Springs, Colo., passed away at home with loving care from her daughter and granddaughter on May 12, 2021. Alma Lee, fondly know as “Mama Gooch” was born in Charlotte, N.C., to Louise Balliet and Homer White on May 13, 1942.

The annual Chandler alumni parade came down Manvel Avenue Saturday. One of the featured elements was this year’s class of graduating seniors (top), most in costumes. Above left was one of the more distinctive entries, with recliners atop a school bus.

Meeker schedules annexation hearing

The Meeker Town Board of Trustees this week voted unanimously to set a public hearing for the proposed annexation of property around the Meeker Lake. The Trustees decided on 6:30 p.m. Monday, June 28, at the Meeker Town Hall as the date for the public hearing on the annexation.

Chandler Jr. High Academic Team competed in OAAC’s Challenge of the Champions, the state tournament, on May 15. They are the Division I Runner-Up, winning 6 out of the 7 games they played. They had the same win/loss record as Drummond; they came in as runner-up based on points.

McLoud Museum dinner

McLoud Historical Society Museum and Heritage Center will be hosting its annual Sunday Dinner from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on June 6. McLoud Masonic Lodge No. 126 is the sponsoring organization for the event, which will be at the McLoud museum, 421 W. Broadway.

Bench warrant issued in manslaughter

A bench warrant issued in April for the arrest of an Ada woman facing a first degree manslaughter charge, has been returned and filed. Formal charges were filed in Lincoln County District Court on Apr.

This week, there are flower buds on some of our potato plants, which is cause for a mixed set of responses. First, there are fist pumps because this means there will be new potatoes before long. One of life’s great experiences is a pan of new potatoes, with or without green beans.
