The Meeker Quilters’ Guild sponsored its 12th annual Summer Quilt Camp July 18 - 20. Mammoth Baptist Church graciously hosted the 3-day event which was attended by 10 participants.
The goals of the quilt camp were to teach basic sewing and quilting skills, safe use of sewing equipment and machines, teamwork, patience and to have fun while learning the art of quilting
Workshop adult leaders included; Joyce Flowers, Karen Ingle, Marlene Young, Linda Harris, Debbie Price; Cindy Waters, Ruth Slepecky, Betty Mayfield, Denise Anderson, Laurie Ray, Lois Thompson, Brenda Harness, Linda Lewis and Francie Russell.
In the 12 years the Meeker Quilters’ Guild has sponsored the Summer Quilt Camp, 58 individual participants have completed quilts. Of the 58, many of them have attended the quilt camp numerous times for a total of 140 enrollments/quilts.
The Meeker Quilters’ Guild is thankful and appreciative of the community support and Mammoth Baptist Church for helping to keep the art of quilting alive and exciting for a young generation of Oklahomans.
