Meeker Board of Education members here this week approved the final 20232024 Estimate of Needs and also approved board meeting dates for 2024.
School Supt. Jeff Pruitt informed board members this year’s final Estimate of Needs is the same figure, $10,748,936, they approved in September and was sent to the Lincoln County Excise Board and approved by that entity.
That compares to the 2022-2023 Estimate of Needs of $9,359,648.58.
Board members approved their meeting dates for next year, with regular meetings scheduled for the second Monday of each month with the exception of July which will be the third Monday of the month.
The board approved an expenditure budget by bold function codes.
Board members, without going into executive session, accepted the resignation of Shantel Wilson, high school and middle school cafeteria and agreed to offer a contract for the 2023-2024 school year to Tammy Green, high school and middle school cafeteria.
In his report, High School Principal Brad Buxton informed the board enrollment is 232 students. He said there’s lots of activities going on and Meeker’s football team has advanced to the second round of the playoffs this Friday night and will travel to face Washington.
Matt Jones, Middle School principal, advised board members enrollment is 169, no change from last month. He said Progress reports will go home Friday.
Elementary Principal Sarah Flowers told the board enrollment stands at 335 and the recent fundraiser was a success.
During public comments, school patron Joy Westfall addressed the board about sanctioning of Booster Clubs, telling board members she helped start the Archery Booster Club and has found inconsistencies in rules and policies.
