Last weekend my wife Pat and I journeyed down to our place at Lake Eufaula.
It was only the second time for us to go there for the weekend this year. Our good friends Gary and Charlotte Barnett, who have a trailer right next to ours, actually picked us up and we rode down with early Friday afternoon.
The four of us went down together in late May for a couple of days.
We had really super weather last weekend. Especially for late July. It was several degrees cooler than the last time we went.
We had mostly clear skies and sunshine Friday and throughout Saturday. It started raining around 6 a.m. on Sunday and rained until late morning. But the temperatures were really nice, even though the humidity was up.
There was a southerly breeze late Friday into the evening and we had a slight wind on Saturday most of the day ma k i n g it pleasant.
We spent a lot of time just relaxing and visiting.
Our goal was not to do any work around there, or at least not much, and just take it easy. We were there to just relax and goof off a little.
We ate most of our meals out. We always take stuff to snack on and occasionally take some food for l u n c h . There is one place in Eufaula where we always like to eat lunch. And we have leftovers to take with us.
Gary and I went into Checotah for breakfast on Saturday and Sunday morning. That’s just our thing we like to do, though occasionally the wives will join us but not this trip.
We ran across a Farmer’s Market and spent some time there on Saturday before we headed off to that favorite place for lunch.
After we did that, it was time to head back to our trailers.
Once arriving back at the trailers, it was a good time to rest and take naps for awhile until early evening Gary and I made a run to a store to pick up some things and that included some food to make sandwiches.
One thing about going to the lake, as any of you who do that or have done it know, we don’t go hungry.
We spent most of the rest of the time just visiting and taking it easy.
Early Sunday afternoon, it was time to trek back to Shawnee.
It was an enjoyable weekend at the lake with good friends.
