Town Talk

Bravo! Bravo!

Those are my sentiments about Stroud High School’s theater performance of “Clue.” The cast, under the direction of theater teacher, Jessica Martinez, did a wonderful job this past weekend.

The characters were believable and I quickly forgot about the young people I knew in the performance and totally believed I was sitting with Professor Plum (Trystan Baker), Colonel Mustard (Dylan Baker), Mrs. Scarlett (Ember Patterson), Mrs. White (Sage Hightower), Mr. Green (Ayden Kimbrell), and Mrs. Peacock (Savannah Mitchell) in the Boddy mansion. Wadsworth, the butler, was played by Addisyn Neeley and she did an outstanding job. Other parts were Newscaster (Destiny Smith), McCarthy (Issac Martinez), Yvette (Erin Sellers), Cook (Isla Arballo), Mr. Boddy (Jaxon Stanger), Motorist (Lizzy Jackson), Unexpected Cop (Kendall Ahrend), Singing Telegram Girls (Emeri Bradley and Alyce Niemann), Chief of Police (JT Alexander), Backup Cops (Gabbi Cowen, Jack Polm-Gore) and Backstage Manager (Angel Smith). Linda Thomas served as Assistant Director and Jeremy Smart was the Sound and Lighting Director. Set Design and Construction was under the direction of Kevin Couch and Tech Theater Class.

Congratulations once again to Coach Josh Presley, his assistant coaches, and the Tiger football team for another great win against Salina this past Friday night defeating the Wildcats 56-21.

This wraps up the quarterfinals and so it’s on to the semifinals. The Tigers will battle the Davis Wolves this Friday, November 29th in Noble, OK. Kick-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.

It looks like a cold but sunny day for football so let’s head over to Noble and cheer the Tigers on to another victory. We’ve had surprisingly mild weather for November football. Don’t forget to turn your blue porch lights on!

If you’re driving down Main Street be sure and check out the new Route 66 sign in Ed. Smalley Centennial Park. The sign was donated by BancFirst in honor of the Route’s centennial birthday celebration that will take place in 2026. The sign is illuminated at night.

Thanks again to everyone who purchased Tiger light bulbs. The fundraiser was a joint effort between the Booster Club and Town Talk. With Town Talk’s portion of the proceeds, we were able to purchase an additional piece of playground equipment for Foster Park.

I will keep you posted on the details right here in this column so be sure and pick up a weekly newspaper.

Community activities are limited this week due to it being a holiday week and school isn’t in session, but the Food Pantry will be be open this Tuesday, November 26th from 9:00 a.m. until noon.

I’m not sure what all is going to be open on Thanksgiving Day in Stroud, but I did see that Ruby’s will be open Thursday evening serving a buffet. Give the restaurant a call for more information.

Town Talk wishes everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and thanks you for continuing to shop local………….first!
