Review set for Wellston man

A Wellston man with two previous convictions for domestic violence and who pleaded guilty recently to domestic abuse–assault and battery and drew a suspended term has appeared for a review. District Judge Sarah Bridge continued case to 9 a.m. Nov. 4.

Xavier Rashaad Hugue, 34, was formally charged in Lincoln County District Court in early February with domestic abuse—assault and battery.

He appeared before Special Judge Emily Mueller on Jan. 27 and she set his bond at $3,000 with the stipulation he have no contact with the alleged victim.

On March 25, appearing for his arraignment, before District Judge Sarah Bridge, Hugue pleaded innocent. She set the cause of the felony disposition docket at 9 a.m. on Apr. 29.

On that date, again appearing before Judge Bridge for the felony disposition docket, and as the result of a plea bargain, he withdrew his previous plea and pleaded guilty. The judge received the plea and sentenced Hugue to four years in the Department of Corrections with all time suspended except the first 60 days.

She fined him $100, gave him at $100 VCA, ordered him to pay court costs and for the sentence to run concurrent with another case and pay 991 fees.

Judge Bridge ordered Hugue to complete a batterer’s program, placed him on supervised probation with Oklahoma Court Services, to report to the Probation Office and Court Clerk’s Office and to reappear for a review at 9 a.m. on July 22, 2025.

Assistant District Attorneys Rachel Thompson and Kelly Trimble prosecuted the case for the state and Kimberly Miller was Hugue’s defense attorney.

Hugue is accused on Jan. 26, of assault and battery on a woman he was in a dating relationship with by grabbing her arm and pulling her clothing up against her neck with force and violence with the intent to do injury.
