Area high schools got their first football scrimmages in last week, with Chandler hosting McLoud, Stroud hosting Mannford, Davenport going to Strother, Meeker hosting Little Axe, Prague hosting Harrah, NRC visiting Bethel.

Prague and NRC open their seasons this week, with Prague going to Classen SAS and North Rock Creek making the long trip to Stephens to play traditional power Marlow.

This week, Chandler makes the short trip down state Highway 18 to scrimmage Meeker onThursday and Stroud goes to Seminole on Friday. McLoud scrimmages at Okemah.

In Week 1 action, Chandler goes to Stroud on Sep. 4 for the annual grudge match between the ancient rivals, Meeker hosts Pawhuska, McLoud goes to Harrah and Davenport goes to Weleetka.
