Big win for Chandler

Chandler unveiled a new spread-the-wealth offensive approach Friday night and used it to pound Tulsa Webster, 52-6.

The Lions got more people involved offensively than in previous games, getting touchdowns from five different players - Javarious Wade, Darius Wade, Bryson Taylor, Chace Buchanan and Clayton Ritchie - and outmatched the winless Warriors.

“Instead of going with our heavy-set personnel, we went with more of our skill-set personnel,” said coach Jack Gray. “We have a lot of skill guys on ourteamandwewantedto see an offense that would highlight our skills guy more.

“We let our quarterback throw it around to everyone, which is what we’ve always done, but we ran different formations. We ran no-huddle with it and took a different approach. “They’re a lot more efficient this way and it fits our team better. It fits our identity better. “

The victory evened the Lions’season record at 3-3 and brough their district record to 1-2.

They’ll host Westville at 7 p.m. Thursday. The Yellowjackets are 0-3 in district and 1-5 for the season.

Against Webster, Javarious Wade started the scoring when he ran a yard to the end zone with 8:22 left in the first.

Then Darius Wade was in the end zone less than four minutes later when he trucked 40 yards for the score.

Webster interrupted the Lions’ scoring streak when Jamarion Power took an interception 42 yards to the house for the Warriors’ only score of the night.

Chandler quarterback Chace Buchanan connected withBrysonTaylor for a 58-yard catch-andrun later in the first period, making the score 21-6.

Buchanan added a 20yard run for a touchdown early in the second period Darius Wade added three more touchdowns in the quarter, running for nine yards, three yards and four yards, which made the score 46-6 at the half.

The teams played with a continually running clock in the second half, limiting the opportunities to score, but No. 12 ran in from a yard out with 2:36 left in the third period to produce the final score of 52-6.

“YousawBrysonTaylor with the ball, Josiah Tillis with the ball, Darius had the ball and had a big time night,”Gray said. “Javarious ran the ball, and Buchanan and Kale Winters.

“I think all those guys are good players and the fact that they can touch the ball at any time makes us a lot more explosive.

When we’re lined lined up like this and doing what we’re doing now, anyone can score at any time.

“It makes us a lot more dangerous.”
