The Chandler Municipal Authority approved a change order to Orr Construction for the Water Treatment Plant Expansion, but tabled a contract amendment with SRB Engineering on the same project at its regular meeting on Nov. 18.
The change order deducted $584,000 and had been discussed at previous meetings. It will have no functional changes to the plan.
The CMA considered action on a contract amendment with SRB Engineering in the amount of $268,900 for engineering services.
Robert Mullins from SRB said it’s to get caught up with engineering cost, especially with electrical, which was more than anticipated.
It would also change from one year of inspections to two years.
Mullins said fees for electrical work exceeded the estimate, though he admitted he didn’t know now how it was spent on the electrical engineer side and that it could be a misunderstanding.
“They had given us a high contract at one point, and we went and negotiated a lower cost. And then somehow we got billed for the higher cost,” he said. “And I don’t doubt that they did the work, and we haven’t found any errors in the electrical.”
Chandler Mayor Kent McVey said he would like City Attorney Larry Lenora to review the contract with SRB Engineering in regards to any additional funds that CMA would disperse and come back next month and look at it again. The rest of the CMA agreed, and they voted unanimously to table the contract amendment until after Lenora could review the contract.
The CMA also approved a letter of binding commitment from the Oklahoma Water Resources Board for up to $5 million in funding to be used for the water treatment plant project. Other items approved are: ● Change order from Firebrand Construction, LLC, of $1,475 for Reed Park Project ● Pay app from Firebrand of $88,833.08 for Reed Park Project paid from CMA Cap Fund ● Final retainage pay app from Firebrand for $25,423.75 for Reed Park Project to be paid from CMA Cap Fund ● Invoice from Kimley-Horn for $450 for the Reed Park Project to be paid from CMA Cap Fund ● Invoice from Great Plains Land & Tree Service for $6,000 for Reed Park Project to be paid from CMA Cap Fund
