The Stroud Tigers Junior Varsity, Lady Tigers and Tigers basketball teams took on the Chandler Lions this week on Monday. The Tigers played hard in all three games but only the Lady Tigers were able to secure a win against the Lions, beating them by one point. All three teams also competed in Stroud on Tuesday night against the Kellyville Ponies. The last regularly scheduled game of the season will take place on Monday, February 16th in Stroud against the Prague Red Devils. District play will begin for the Tigers next Thursday, February 19th. As one sports season ends, another one begins. Stroud Tiger Baseball will kick off their season on Monday, March 2nd at Preston.
The Davis/McCammon Elementary Tiger team ended their regular season this past Saturday with two games, one in Perkins and one in Dale, taking home the win in both games. Congratulations to team members William “Mud” Perry, Kanon Hilbert, Mason McCammon, August Smalley, Lincoln Smalley, Owen Hentges and Jordy Davis on a good season. It’s fun to see the growth in these young kiddos from the first game to the last. Thanks to Matt Davis, Stephen McCammon and all our Little League coaches for their time volunteering to coach these youngsters. Former Stroud resident Steffon Williams’ son Miles played for the Perkins team so it was fun to visit with Steffon and get to watch his son play. His mom, Sabrina Willingham, was also there to cheer on her grandson. Sabrina and Steffon are both Stroud High School alums. Sporting events are fun to attend around the State, not only to watch the teams compete but visit with all the former Stroudities whom you come across.
Saturday is the last day to sign up for Little League Baseball, but it’s also Valentine’s Day and your last chance to buy that special someone a gift or take them to dinner. Never say I didn’t warn you! Have a great week and thank you for continuing to shop local………first!
