Edmond man charged with aggravated DUI

An Edmond man has been charged with aggravated DUI after an incident that took place on May 16, according to the court filing.

Yankton Lee Dillon, 39, of Edmond, was charged with one felony count of driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, aggravated, on May 19. Dillon made his initial appearance on May 28 and will return on July 9 for a pre-preliminary hearing, according to court documents.

District Attorney Adam Panter also filed supplemental information showing that Dillon was previously convicted of child abuse on Sept. 19, 2017, in Logan County, court documents said.

At about 1 a.m. on May 16, Ofc. Devin Denton, with the Carney Police Department, was working patrol near Highway 177 and Wilson Road when he saw a silver pickup truck traveling northbound. Denton followed the vehicle through town and observed it cross the fog line multiple times, the probable cause affidavit said.

Ofc. Denton initiated a traffic stop at Highway 177 and Hardy and noticed an odor of alcoholic beverages from the driver, later identified as Yankton Dillon. Denton also reported that Dillon had red, watery eyes and slurred speech in the probable cause affidavit.

Denton requested that Dep.HoustonByfordcame to his location to administer a standardized field sobriety test. When the deputy arrived, Dillon agreed to the test.Afterwards, Byford said that Dillon had not performed satisfactorily, the report said. That is when Denton placed Dillon under arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Dillon was then transported to the Lincoln County Jail, where a breath test was administered by Dep. Christopher Vickrey. Dillon blew a .19, according to the report..
