Man facing 2 felony counts of child sex abuse

A man was arrested in Prague on May 21 for two counts of child sexual abuse, according to court documents.

District Attorney Adam Panter filed charges against Dalton Bierd, 22, on May 27 -- two felony counts of child sexual abuse -- for incidents that took place on or around May 25, 2024, to May 25, 2025, involving a teenage minor while Bierd was “a person responsible for the health, safety or welfare of a child,” according to the court filing.

Bierd made an initial appearance on May 28, followed by a pre-preliminary hearing on June 25. He will return to court on Aug. 20 for a preliminary hearing, court documents said.

He was arrested after the teenager spoke with investigators and had a forensic interview. According to the probable cause affidavit, the teenager recounted multiple sexual encounters that allegedly took place before, during and after the teenager lived with Bierd and his wife.

The teenager stated that they often went along with the acts because they didn’t want to be homeless or go back into state custody, according to the affidavit. After the first incident, Bierd allegedly offered to let the teen move in.

The teen came forward after obtaining a confession from Bierd over the phone and recording it.
