Project: SAFE is hosting a free fall festival to help bring the community and families together, according to a press release from the organization.
“Pumpkins for Protection is about bringing our community together in a positive and welcoming environment while connecting families with resources, support and hope,” said Sandy Vanderburg, Executive Director of Project: SAFE. “We want this to be an event where everyone feels welcome, has fun, and leaves knowing that they are part of a community that cares.”
With the theme “Uniting Lincoln County Through Awareness, Resources and Hope,” the event is set for Oct. 15 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Tilghman Park in Chandler. It will have carnival games, bounce houses, a mechanical bull, face painting, community resource booths, a costume contest, food and other activities for the whole family.
The press release said Pumpkins for Protection is a fall celebration that is an opportunity for members of the community to learn about available resources in the area, connect and show support for each other. Project: SAFE said in the release that it is grateful for the support of local law enforcement, fire departments, tribal nations and community partners to help with the event.
“We believe prevention and awareness begin with community connection,” said Vanderburg. “By coming together, sharing resources, and creating safe spaces for families, we can strengthen our community and let survivors know they are not alone.”
Project: SAFE is an organization that provides advocacy for safety, empowerment, healing and freedom from abust. It works to support survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault through journeys toward safety and healing, the release said. It is commited to empowering survivors, raising community awareness and fostering a community where every individual has the opportunity to live free from abuse.
