Meeker Lake meetings continue with engineers, contractors, and Town of Meeker town administrator. There was discussion about the approximate eight and a half foot to ten foot of dirt to be placed on top of the dam and about how far east on the back side of the dam the dirt would go.
Also, much discussion was about the existing water spillway and about widening it. All morning was spent with about a dozen people, so it ended up being an incredibly positive meeting.
We are still waiting on Terracon Drilling to come to the six sites to be drilled and tested for donor soil for the dam. It was also decided for a contractor to come and take the water pipe connections apart for the camera to go up and inspect the pipe and the contractor could put the pipe back together to the new specs.
This week we have been at the cemetery repairing ruts from cars and trucks that happened over Memorial Day weekend. All the rain has the grass and dirt unbelievably soft; it will take about a week to repair all the damaged corners and other areas. These ruts are being filled with emulsified granite. We have started using the granite after learning about it from Lincoln, Tulsa and other counties who use the granite with much success.
The City Wide Clean Up ended Sunday May 31st, 2020. We filled ten fortyyard dumpsters. This is our third year in a row for this community clean up. The City of Chandler City Manager allowed the Town of Meeker to borrow their woodchipper. Arrangements were made with David Nickle; a Chandler supervisor and the chipper was borrowed for two days allowing for going through the Town of Meeker and chipping all the resident’s limbs from the storms. Thanks everyone for getting your limbs close to the street.
Another great asset the town has acquired is the Meeker police department hot line. 1-877-735-4558, anyone may use this number to report suspicious activity in your neighborhood. All calls are anonymous, or you can leave your name and number and they will call you back.
The town did receive bids for a new fire department front door and an exhaust fan to be installed in the east end way of the fire department bays. When the fire department starts the big trucks the exhaust fumes filter into City Hall. This fan should have been installed years ago.
Congratulations to all the seniors of 2020. Please remember to think about your decisions and actions before you do things now because these decisions may be some of the most important ones in your life.
So, enjoy life and live life to the fullest, because time flies when you are having fun, and believe me the next ten to twenty years will be gone before you know it. Have lots of fun, be smart, and enjoy it. Oh, and make a lot of money so you can help your parents and grandparents lol.
