Sen. Grant Green and Rep. Kevin Wallace will hold Legislative Breakfasts throughout Lincoln County over the next few weeks. The schedule is: Feb. 16 - 8-9 a.m., Stroud High School commons, Stroud High School. Mar. 1 - 8-9 a.m., Fat Rooster, 970690 S. Highway 18. Mar. 8 - 8-9 a.m.

Hearing set in rape case

A pre-preliminary hearing has been scheduled for an 18-year-old Prague woman facing two felonies, one of them first degree rape, and another Prague woman has been charged with enabling child sexual abuse and child neglect. Taylor Jo Bittle was charged in Lincoln County District Court Dec.

Meeker to convert buses to CNG

Meeker Board of Education members this week rehired four administrators and also approved converting the district’s school buses to CNG.

Two die in crash on Highway 18

Two men from Meeker have died in a head-on collision south of Meeker on SH 18, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported. State Trooper Nathan Battershell identified the two men who died as Scott M. Howe, 56 and Caleb J. Barbour, 41. The collision occurred at around 6:38 a.m.

Stroud man waives hearing on rape, porn charges

A Stroud man has waived his preliminary hearings on four felonies, including two for first degree rape, one for possession of child pornography, and one for soliciting sexual conduct or communication with a minor by use of technology. Shamus Jack Palermo, 49, was formally charged Sep.

Chandler Board of Education

Chandler Board of Education members this week approved the calendar for the 2024/2025 school year and also voted to approve the 2022/2023 audit report presented by Ralph Osborn’s CPA firm. School Supt. Scott Baade stated the student dropout report for 2022 was 2.10 percent.

Guilty on lewd acts charge

A Lincoln County jury has found a Cushing man innocent of two charges and guilty of one and recommended his punishment in the case. Joseph Lee Rolan, 43, two counts of lewd or indecent acts to a child under 16 after former conviction of two or more felonies.

JUDGE RESIGNS

Lincoln County District Judge Traci Soderstrom, suspended since last October when the State Supreme Court filed a petition seeking her removal from office, has resigned her position. The resignation was effective as of 5 p.m. Feb. 9.
