The Alpha Iota Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society hosted their annual Senior Girls’ Night on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at the Chandler First United Methodist Church.
Dr. Jo Ann Pierce, president of the DKG Oklahoma State Organization met with Alpha Iota members prior to the Senior Girls’ Night.
She told about her involvement with the Delta Kappa Gamma Society. She encouraged members to find ways to include younger members in the activities of the society. When young teachers and old teachers come together, they have a lot in common. Dr. Pierce gave a preview of the Oklahoma State Organization conference June 7 and 8, 2024.
Thirty senior girls from Chandler High School participated in the Senior Girls’ Night. Alpha Iota president, Marilyn Young, welcomed everyone and told a brief history of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society. Cynthia Snider gave an inspirational talk based on Dr. Suess’s Oh the Places You Will Go. A buffet meal of sliders and salads was enjoyed by all. Following the meal each of the seniors were introduced by the teacher that had invited them. Kim Leatherwood and Rachel Karger organized a game of Senior Bingo with prizes for the girls.
The next meeting of the Alpha Iota Chapter will be April 18, 2024 when essay winners will be announced and Delta Kappa Gamma Society’s birthday will be celebrated.
