Reno enjoyed chewing on the rubber Christmas toy Kindra bought him a few days ago. It’s red and decorated with the trappings of Christmas and it has a squeaker in it. Kindra noticed that he apparently hadn’t dis the squeaker yet, so she demonstrated - stepped on it to make it squeak.

Town Talk

A big Town Talk shout-out to the Stroud Chamber of Commerce along with President Erin Bradley on the great Christmas parade this past Saturday night. Erin said she felt like the parade was a success and that she received positive feedback on the Elvis theme.

Enjoying some grandson time

Thanksgiving this year once again was really nice. As I had written a couple of weeks ago, our daughter Meghan and son-in-law Terry invited Pat and me to their house for Thanksgiving Day along with Pat’s mother because Terry was able to be off. Terry prepared the turkey.

December 22nd, 2020 at 4:00 a.m., I was heading to the hospital for a scheduled C-section. I was a ball of nerves the entire drive. Tried drowning out my nerves with music the whole way but it didn’t quite work.

Grandson Bennett was having trouble settling into first grade during the early weeks of school. He’s a smart little guy and a cheerful one, but found himself getting distracted and making, as he said, bad choices.

Remembering Pearl Harbor

Next Wednesday is Dec. 7. That day will mark 81 years ago that the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, the act that thrust the United States into World War II. Hundreds of thousands of American men and women are no longer around to share their feelings, their thoughts about that day.

Remembering Veterans Day

Last Friday, this nation celebrated what I think is one of the greatest holidays of the year, Veterans Day. It was the 103rd Veterans Day to be observed. I know some took the time that day to pause, think about and honor all the brave men and women who have served this country.

As the nurses were hooking me to the defibrillator, I was terrified at the thought of needing to be shocked. I had been wanting Braum’schickenstripswith Braum’s sauce for a week or so when we decided to load up and drive over to have Braum’s for dinner.

I had just gotten back to my barracks from the base exchange at Clark Air Base in the Phillipines with a box of 35mm camera film. I had bought an Olympus 35mm camera from a buddy and this was the first roll of film I’d bought to run through it.
