After finishing up putting some Christmas lights around our patio last Saturday afternoon, I took a breather and just sat down in my chair. Saturday had turned out to be a pretty nice day with a slight northerly breeze after a chilly morning.

I did a little snooping around and found out that Head Start is moving its offices to Main Street into the building that was the former Sparks Winery tasting room. There have been a few other businesses in it since the tasting room, but the building is owned by J. L. Gilbert of the Sparks Winery.

It seems such an innocent time, now. It was a Saturday night and the Pokes had just beaten OU in Bedlam football and were going to the Big XII Championship game and, we thought, perhaps to the college football playoffs.

This past Tuesday marked the 80th anniversary of the infamous bombing of Pearl Harbor by the Japanese. On that Sunday morning in 1941, Japanese planes unleashed a bombardment, killing and injuring thousands of American military personnel and many civilians.

Thank you to the Chamber of Commerce and the City of Stroud for another great Christmas parade. There was a nice crowd and a fun time was had by all. The parade had a total of 38 entrants. Projects like this take lots of work from everyone involved. Stroud is lucky to have such great volunteers.

Thanksgiving

It’s Thanksgiving time again. We are reminded that we should be thankful and grateful at this time of year for everything the Good Lord has provided us. Once again we are really excited because we’ll be with our daughter Meghan, her husband Terry and their son Liam, (our grandson).

Law enforcement officers face enough obstacles in doing their jobs each day that they shouldn’t have to keep arresting the same criminals over and over. Thinking about it further, that seems counter productive. That’s what’s happening though, in some cases recently, in Lincoln County.

December is just around the corner and with it comes lots of Christmas festivities. To kick things off there will be an Ugly Christmas Sweater Contest. Come to the Route 66 Pavilion on December 4th at 5:45 p.m., right before the Christmas parade.

A representative from Adventure Golf out of Michigan stopped by this past Sunday on his way to Texas for a hunting trip. He checked out our golf course and answered some questions we had about the set-up of the course.
