Dale approves school budget

Dale’s Board of Education this week approved the final 2021-2022 budget and also adopted a resolution calling for the annual school election. Acting School Supt. Ky Wilkins presented the final budget to the board showing revenue estimates of $5,463,336.42.

Hearing set in assault on officers case

A preliminary hearing has been set for a Stroud man facing two felonies and three misdemeanors in the alleged assault of two Stroud officers. Steven Eugene Laffoon, 52, of Stroud, was formally charged in Lincoln County District Court on Aug.

Fall break was looming ever closer on the calendar and soon we would have five days with the emptiest of nests. So, Kindra and I decided to take a quick camping trip. I’d cover football Thursday night, and then we’d head out for a camping location that we hadn’t yet selected.

Lincoln County commissioners took a step last week to allow discussion and interaction with the public on most any agenda items. During a special meeting, they voted 2-1 to establish a policy where the public can interact with them on any issue on the agenda with a couple of exceptions.

Letter to the editor

To The Editor, I have a confession. I am an addict. My ability to build and to destroy has been equal. As I work to figure out what it is that makes up this part of me the only thing that matters to me is what’s next. It’s silly for me to deny that addiction has been a driving force in my life.

My wife Pat and I attended a memorial service this past weekend for a friend we’d known for around 30 years. It was a very nice service that honored his life. He was a military veteran and the setting couldn’t have been better on a beautiful Saturday morning overlooking the lake.

Town Talk volunteers had a very productive day this past Friday. Our volunteers, plus nine student volunteers from Creighton, worked on the miniature golf course all day.

It was seven years ago this week that a bird dog-looking pup came to live with me. I had been a widower for about six months and my daughter thought I needed a companion around the house, so she brought over a little guy with short white fur and lots of little brown spots.

My oldest greatnephew, Gideon, is a baseball player and being not the least bit prejudiced, I would say a pretty good one, too. His two main positions are first base and pitcher.
