1. Update on Asphalt Overlay on Highway 18 A. ODOT has completed their initial base overlayment from Hwy. 62 to Hwy 66. They are spraying Bitumen, which is a binder that will hold the asphalt in place and together. Another 2” overlay will top the surface out.

Late one evening recently, my wife bent down to pick up what she believed was a dead fly off the utility room floor in our house. She screamed and I took running off running towards her. I couldn’t imagine what had happened.

Well, if you wondered where Henry Starr’s watering hole was back in his bank robbing heyday, the secret is finally out. It was at Stroud’s newest business, The Lazy J Saloon. The Cue & Brew was recently purchased by Jason and Melissa Moore where Jason served as the kitchen manager.

Town Talk along with the American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary will hold a Memorial Day Ceremony at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 25th at the Stroud Cemetery. There will be a short program and a 21-gun salute to honor our deceased veterans.

Kindra and I were happy with our harvest of Yukon Gold potatoes. For about a week. We planted the Yukon Golds and some blue potatoes in 18-gallon tubs back in March and have been waiting on them to mature.

Lincoln County citizens, at least those who took time enough to go vote during the recent special election, have spoken. They oppose paying any further property taxes.

1. Update on asphalt overlay on Highway 18. A. Oklahoma Department of Transportation has completed the asphalt overlay on the east side of Highway 18 from Highway 62 to Highway 66. They have turned around and are coming back towards Highway 62.

Memories of a special woman, and of family

A woman I haven’t spoken much about in this space is my mother who reared me from shortly after I turned six years old. As many of you are aware, my birth mother passed away when I was 3½ years old. She died of acute leukemia.
