Fresh from its second win of the season, Davenport Coach John Greenfield has his squad preparing for the Bulldogs’ 200th victory on Friday night since becoming an eight-man football team in 2004. “If we can win this game, it will be the 200th win as an eight-man football team.

Pair to stand trial

A man and woman facing multiple charges alleging sex crimes against a child have been bound over to stand trial. During their arraignments on Sep. 20, Angela Renee Gordon, 42, of Claremore and John Joshua Bonner, 46, of Chandler, District Judge Cindy Ashwood scheduled their jury trials for 9 a.m.

Chandler cheer won the Class 3A regional in Stroud Saturday and will head to the state competition next Saturday at Union High School.

Lions’ comeback falls short

Chandler put on a strong second-half comeback Friday, but fell 30-21 to Class 4A Poteau. Poteau, ranked No. 6 in 4A this week by MaxPreps, bolted to a 30-7 lead, but Chandler dominated the second half and had the chance to cut the lead to a field goal or less in the final three minutes.

Davenport clips Yale in home opener

The Davenport Bulldogs grabbed their first win of the football season last Friday night limiting Yale to one touchdown while scoring four times themselves. They defeated Yale 26-6 in Davenport’s home opener.
