Another quail season has come and gone. In a way, I’m sorry I missed hunting the bobwhites other than briefly when my good friend Steve Buoy and I hunted them during the turkey season when we could hunt both quail and turkey.

I was thumbing through some very old photos the other day and came across a photo that will be, for whatever reason, always a keepsake.It’s a photo of our grade school basketball team at Christ The King School in Oklahoma City.

Keep the state income tax

Governor Kevin Stitt and a number of lawmakers are insistent on cutting the state income tax this year and eventually seeing it eliminated altogether.Yet, he and those same lawmakers haven’t indicated they have come up with any new revenue stream to replace that income.

Play ball, baseball season has arrived! The Stroud Middle School season kicks-off next week, Tuesday, March4th.Theseason opener will be against the Prague Red Devils. The game is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. at Stroud Tiger Field.

The other day I began searching for some old photos sent to me several years ago.Now I’m not sure about some of you, but I told myself I’d placed them in a spot where they would be easy to find. I’d looked at them several times and they are the kind of photos one always wants to keep.

This Friday is Valentine’s Day. I learned many years ago what needs to be done for this day.I’ve done different things, but there are some basics that have become entrenched in my mind that are a must.One is, order the flowers early. Not just any flowers, but roses. There are options to colors.

The community is invited to join the Stroud Ag Booster’s Club for a dinner, auction and show on Saturday, February 8th at Stroud Memorial Gym. A pulled pork and bologna dinner will be served starting at 4:30 p.m. followed by a livestock show and auction of desserts and other items. Dinner is $12.

Our daughter Meghan, son-inlaw Terry and our grandson Liam have come over and spent some time with us during the last couple of weekends.It’s the first time they have come to visit us since a brain tumor was removed from Meghan in early December and it was diagnosed as cancerous.
