Chandler senior Emmerson Snovel was among 141 students honored with the Arts Excellence Award on April 23.Snovel won the award in the Drama/ Theatre category and received it at a ceremony on Tuesday.“Emmerson is an exceptional student whose dedication to the arts is truly inspiring.

Area track teams and individuals stood out Monday during regional track meets.Above, Wellston freshman Savanah Gaylord won the 800 meters and finished second in the 400 in the Class A regional at Stroud. She ran 2:30.88 in the 800, beating Allie Sheppard of S W Covenant, who ran 2:31.70.

The Stroud Lady Tigers and Pott County powers North Rock and Dale made it to the slow-pitch state tournament at Hall of Fame Stadium Tuesday.The tournaments were still going on when we had to send the Lincoln County News to the press Tuesday night.

Last Friday morning at 5 a.m. my wife Pat and I were awakened by our cell phones going off due to a tornado warning. At thesametime,ourhome’s alarm system went off with the tornado warning and within a minute or two Shawnee sounded its tornado warning sirens.

Stroud: Burglary charges filed

A Stroud man who admitted he and another individual were inside a building when it went up in flames last October has been charged with burglary.Formal charges of second degree burglary were filed in Lincoln County District Court March 26 against Joshua Dylan Standley, 33.
