Chandler’s Lady Lions won the first two games of the state tournament in their last at-bat, but their comeback against Washington fell short in Saturday’s finals.Number 1-seeded Washington ended up with its 10th fastpitch state championship, beating the secondranked Lady Lions, 9-3.

Chandler pitcher Kennedy Allen and coach Bryan Herring were recently named fastpitch Player of the Year and Coach of the Year in the 66 Conference.A senior who has committed to Oklahoma State, Allen led the Lady Lions to the state semifinals last year and the state championship game this season.

Stroud romps past Newkirk

Chandler dominated a district opponent for the second straight week, drubbing the Westville Yellowjackets, 54-6, Thursday It was the second blowout in a row, following a 52-6 win over Tulsa Webster a week ago, and it left the Lions in a four-way tie for third place in District 2A-1-4.

This is a good time of the year to go to the lake like we did this past weekend and my wife Pat and I took our seven-year-old grandson Liam down there with us. It wasn’t the best weather, as it rained quite a bit. It turned off windy and for the most part and was cool, not cold, but cool.

Commissioners meeting

Lincoln County commissioners this week approved the 2025-2026 budget and agreed to the Lincoln County Fairgrounds Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust Wellness policy.
