Jacob Beck took a punt return to the house early in the fourth quarter to give Stroud a lead and Aiden Collins intercepted a pass late in the quarter to protect it, leading the Tigers to an 18-13 win over Tonkawa Friday.

Bulldogs lose 36-32 to Alex, face Depew next

Davenport’s Bulldogs jumped out to a two touchdown lead on Alex in a road contest last week, but couldn’t hang on and lost 36-32.The Bulldogs are 1-2 on the season and Coach Grant Powell said it doesn’t get any easier this week as they travel to Depew on Thursday night. He noted kickoff is at 7 p.m.

Carney- For the week: 3-0. Wins over Yale (12-6), Coyle (11-9), Agra (20-3 Now 11-9 for the season.Macy Hubach and Ashtyn Stokes banged out three hits each in the win over Yale. Stokes had two doubles and an RBI and Hubach had a run batted in.

Alpha Iota Chapter meets at Chandler

The Alpha Iota Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International met Thursday, Sep. 18 at the Chandler High School.Rachel Karger, chapter president, called the meeting to order after members had served themselves from the snack buffet.

The Pride of Chandler Marching Band from Chandler High School competed at the Deer Creek Invitational Marching Festival on Sept. 20 at Deer Creek, performing its program “The Ballad of Georgia Graves.” The band placed 14th out of 18 bands in the preliminaries, just barely missing out on the finals. The band will next compete in the Blue and Gold Marching Classic in Holdenville on Sept. 27, along with The Spirit of Stroud marching band and the McLoud high school marching band. Oklahomans who are supporting open state primary elections are a step closer to beginning a petition drive. If the petition is ruled sufficient, it would be on the General Election ballot in November of 2026.Last week, the State Supreme Court voted to give that drive the go ahead.
