The Chandler Public Library is open again with regular hours, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday. Like most every other public facility, though, it is open with restrictions.
In an effort to reopen the library and continue to keep the staff and public safe, the Library Board and staff have adopted new but hopefully temporary procedures.
The library will be open for patrons to conduct the business of checking out books, making photocopies and faxing.
The doors will remain locked so the staff can ensure that no more than 10 people are in the building at a time. When you get there, knock on the door or call (405) 258-3204 and someone will let you inside. No children under 12 will be allowed in the building.
Children 12-18 years old must be accompanied by an adult. Everyone is asked to wear a mask.
Although no children are allowed in the building, the staff is offering children’s activity packets for curbside pickup throughout the summer months to encourage reading.
Call ahead and a librarian will have it ready for pickup.
Curbside pickup will continue. Get on the website chandlerlibrary.okpls.org or download the Librista app on your phone or tablet. You can find Chandler Public Library and see what is in their collection. When you find what you want, call the library. The staff will pull the book for you and arrange a time for pick up.
To log on to the library’s Wi-Fi, you will need to remain outside on the bench or in your car as no one will be allowed to sit at the tables inside.
Call the library to get the Wi-Fi password. The library’s computers can be used by appointment only.
Books were added to the shelves last month and are now available for checkout. New titles include Karen Kingsbury’s children’s book “Finding Home” and the Hunger Games prequel “Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” by Suzanne Collins.
Also new to the library are “The Boy From the Woods” by Harlan Coben, “Book of Longings” by Sue Monk Kidd, “Camino Winds” by John Grisham, “Close Up” by Amanda Quick, “Dead Land” by Sara Paretsky, “The Goodbye Man” by Jeffery Deaver, “Hello Summer” by Mary Kay Andrews and “Hidden Salem” by Kay Hooper.
The list continues with “The Last Trial” by Scott Turow, “The Lincoln Conspiracy” (nonfiction book) by Brad Meltzer, “Masked Prey” by John Sandford, “Walk the Wire” by David Baldacci, “Wedding Dress” by Danielle Steel, “Week at the Shore” by Barbara Delinsky and “20thVictim” by James Patterson.
